Changes to the site

Postby ScottC » Wed Nov 28, 2007 10:03 pm

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any feedback on the way the site works? Anything annoying? What do you think of the color scheme? Is anyone interested in recieving email digests of the day's or week's messages?

Cheers,

Scott.

Looks good. All we need now are more bookbinders using it for communication and problem solving. Are bookbinders reluctant to divulge secrets of the trade? Are they not connected to the internet? How do we contact more of them in Australia? Perhaps we can do more by advertising the website in the various bookbinders guild newsletters around the country. Keep up the good work Scott.

Thanks Arnold.

I'd certainly be happy for you to advertise the site anywhere that you think it would do some good, or anywhere that you think there may be some interested people!

Cheers,

Scott.

I joined a group in USA that was similar to this website but devoted to letterpress printers. The traffic was amazing, responses came thick and fast on everything. These characters in USA must have had very little else to occupy them. I must say that they were all very helpful in locating suppliers of metal type. I have since unsubscribed because I was receiving too many emails that were of no interest to me. It would be nice to see that amount of interchange of views amongst Australian bookbinders.
Here's hoping for great things in 2010.

Actually, Scott, my link to the site stopped working when you changed the format and I just found it again today. That's my only complaint.

Hmm... I guess that would happen if you've bookmarked something inside the forums, rather than the main page. I hadn't thought of that (going to the main site now auto-forwards you to the new site, which is in a different directory/folder). Maybe I'll make a custom 404 message that points people the right way. Unfortunately, there was no practical way (that I know about) to preserve links to internal pages, and send them to the 'new' version of the same page, even though the content hasn't changed. Thanks for the reminder!

There might have been a way to auto-email all the members telling us about the change. I thought you had closed down. And, yes, since I save my id and password, I linked directly into and inside page, not he main page. Just glad I found you again.

Oh that's strange... I did email all the members! Maybe some of the emails didn't get through for some reason (spam filters, etc).

Cheers,

Scott.

And I could have just missed it. No problem - Back now.
